The M.O.R.E. program stands for Member Organized Resource Exchange. It is based on an existing St. Louis model that has been fully operational for over 20 years. The M.O.R.E. project is a resident driven resource sharing plan designed to strengthen and expand on existing service delivery networks in Davis County. This network engages residents of low-income housing towards a self-sustaining community. The community members themselves assess their collective needs.
The M.O.R.E system allows neighbors to earn and save "time dollars" when they volunteer their services to another member of the community. Residents receive "MORE" time dollars for each hour of service they provide. Conversely, they must relinquish "MORE" time dollars for each hour of service they receive. These time dollars can then be used in lieu of cash to "purchase" specific services offered by members of the community. Examples of some of the services provided are training or childcare.
The M.O.R.E. program offers:
- Survival English classes
- Workshops (topics related to the needs of the M.O.R.E. members)
- Speaker’s Bureau
- Parent Night: How to Navigate Through the Educational System
- A women’s support group
